Wow! New York has been more exhausting than I anticipated! Tieka and I are just totally wiped out. Today we are trying to just relax and regroup before we fly home tomorrow. New York is a tiring city, especially for someone who is used to a much slower pace of life. Granted, fashion week festivities are definitely not part of the norm. Still, my previous impressions that New York is not the place for me have been solidified once again. It's exciting to visit, for sure, but my love for nature and the slow, introspective pace of places like Alaska and the Pacific Northwest will definitely keep me anchored to my more rural roots.
This outfit is from Saturday night, when we went out to the ModCloth dress-up party! It was a blast. It was a pretty small event, which was nice having experienced the quasi-mass-hysteria of Fashion's Night Out the previous evening. I got to meet some new faces and had a great time hanging out with old blogger friends. I wish I could've taken some photos of the actual event but it was so dark inside that they just would have been dark blurs. I think some other people may have snapped some good photos, and I'm pretty sure ModCloth got some pictures, so maybe when I track those down I'll share them with you guys.

I think it's funny I'm wearing so many solids here in New York. I'm usually decked out in all sorts of prints, but for some reason most of my outfits here have been pretty solid. I've adored this dress for a long time, but the price was extremely high and I wasn't interested in spending so much on it, but since I loved it for so long I decided to get it for the ModCloth party. Unfortunately, I am not that happy with the dress itself. There are only two sizes (xs/s and m/l) which doesn't really accommodate a wide range of sizes, and the hem fell apart after only wearing it once!! I couldn't believe it. So, I just have to send it back. I mean... for that price... falling apart after wearing it once? And handling it very carefully (since it wrinkles like instantaneously and I had to try to keep it from getting all crease-y in my bag during travels)...I mean I love it, but, oh well. Sometimes things just weren't meant to be.

Yeah all the walking in NY can totally tire you out!! I love your dress & the tights are too cute!!! Enjoy your time in the city!!
The dress looks so pretty on you! Too bad though about the hem.. I hate buying something and then having it fall below my expectations, but having the return option is always helpful.
That dress really isn't that cute. Send it back as quickly as possible! (Ha, I'm totally kidding! When an outfit just doesn't work, I try to convince myself that it really isn't as cute as I want it to be, so it doesn't suck as much to have to return it. It's actually super cute -- and great color on you!)
Gorgeous.
Beautiful colour.
That dress is so cute and I love the colour such a shame about the quality of it though :(
Hope you had a great time in NY, have a safe trip back home xoxo
thats too bad about the dress. it's so cute!
Green and black is such an underused combo! Love it!
How cute, I love the color of that dress with your red hair.

Too bad about that dress! It's adorable. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.
All these posts about New York are making me want to visit again. Like you, I don't think that I could live there (I like smaller cities), but it's definitely fun for a little while!
Green must be in the air...Green dress was my last post!
You look amazing! Hope you are rested soon.
It's a very pretty dress, it sucks that the quality isn't great after your dropped some cash on it. I like your attitude though. It just wasn't meant to be. :)
Lovee the dress! The colour is just amazing! Shame about it falling apart after wearing it once! At least you can send it back!! :)
I'm totally loving everyones posts about NYFW! I wish I could have gone, or at least go to LFW. Nevermind, maybe in the spring! :)

PS
if i may ask, what kind of lens did you use in this photo? i has a nice depth of field, and i'm just curious. thank you!
It's too bad that dress didn't work out, but at least you have some sweet pictures of yourself in it! Haha. I really adore how you styled it with the black tights and those shoes. The shoes seem to be made for it! For some reason I never go for green things, but seeing you in this dress is making me wanna change my mind about that... :)
The dress looks so lovely, what a pity that it has to be send back because of the defects.
I wish you lots of fun on your last day in NY!
you are soo amazing!! Glad I found you!
Sounds like you had a good time at the Modcloth party!! Sorry about the dress situation but you looked great in it that day :)

Green looks great on you, love the dress, but also think you made the right decision.
It's too bad you have to send the dress back, it really is fantastic.

BISOUS pour toi ma belle!
Gorgeous outfit, once again! You should post these outfits from your blog on Lookbook so I can hype them.
Love the dress and the color suits you very well.
Too bad about the quality though, I've bought a few items from Modcloth as well and the quality of all of them was poor. Mostly the seems were poorly finished and I ended up touching almost everything up myself.
I still love the site though, how can people not?
Your dress is just amazing!

It is a very pretty dress , but you must send it back if the quality is not so good!

xoxo
just beautiful & sweet ;)
too bad the dress doesn't work because it looks fantastic with the black tights and I'm in awe of your white shoes. They make it pop!
I think going green was one of the best choices you've made ;) hehe.
Such a shame about the dress, it's so cute, especially with those shoes!
It's always so interesting to me to see how people react to the pace of life in the Northeast. I always say I want to slow down more, but when I travel to places where people are a bit slower paced it always frustrates me! I'm just used to the hustle and bustle I guess, though it's always nice to get out of one's comfort zone!
really like that dress too...somehow Modcloth always impressed me as "facade" not as "durable." oh well.
Awwww, that's a bummer that it fell apart...
