times they are a-changin'

I definitely had to style this dress again, after it having been in the closet for so long. I tend to get stuck on a couple items in my closet and style them again and again for like a week or two...
I feel like I've said this many times before, but I'm in such a style funk. It's almost as bad as how I used to be in a jeans and t-shirt funk, except now I just grab a cute dress and put it on. Perhaps this is just a side effect of all the other changes that are occuring in my brain, but I feel like the way I dress doesn't really describe me very well. It used to, but I'm growing and changing like a living being happens to do throughout its lifetime, and now it feels a bit off when I wear an outfit like this. I don't know what that all means... but it means something. We'll see. It's not really a complaint, just an observation. I think my flouncy dress stage may be phasing out...

I know the feeling of a funk. Its the summer doldrums. I love how youve done this dress up. :)

I love looking back and seeing how my own personal style has evolved. When I think about certain periods of my life, I can remember exactly what my favorite things in my closet were and what my "signature style" was at the time. It looks like you're ready for another transition :)

I know exactly how you mean. I'm a point where I'm really frustrated because I feel like I'm not effectively conveying who I am by the way I dress. And that's important to me. Sometimes I think I put too much weight on that than need be and it stresses me out.

Love the pattern on your leggings~~
I get how you feel about being in a funk, hopefully you'll get over it soon! Like fashion, these things always come in circles, it's only a matter of time before it passes :)

I think everyone's style evolves. It's just our natural sense of curiousity and creativity saying, "Hey there Brain, you look cute, but Heart wants to do something different!"

Heh.
But I love this combo and it's definitely fall-y. I love that fall is so near!

Do you take your own pictures always? They're so pretty. Mine never ever turn out well when I do it myself haha:)

You always look amazing and very "Dacky!" (Delightfully Tacky, in a good way, a Elizabeth-type way!)

I feel that way about my style. I want to change it up. Maybe for fall you can add darker colors, or experiment with different stylings. I know one of my goals for fall is trying to take really unexpected pieces and use them in new ways.

Don't forget dresses can be worn as skirts and shirts! I know you do this often but it'll help you maintain using dresses. Plus, you sort of have to start thinking about your outfits as Brave-driving-safe!

I don't know if you could sit in this dress for 4 hours on the road and it won't be wrinkled or uncomfy. ;)

Just some ideas. Go try a very military style, or safari, since you're on a life-changing adventure!

i really love this. it's so different from the other way you wore it. i feel kind of weird & in between style wise & just, in general- life wise. but, sometimes change is good. :]

ps. the composition of the last photo is great

I think it's totally natural to gradually phase into a different style as you change as a person....I'm sure your next step is going to be great & I can't wait to see what you come up with :)

Love those glasses. I know what you mean about being in a style funk. I feel like my style is constantly fluctuating and changing as I grow, so it makes sense to be dissatisfied with your wardrobe at times. I look forward to seeing how your style evolves in the coming months.

you look so inquisitive in those glasses! so cute!

don't worry, this funk shall pass, haha. sometimes all it takes is moving things around in your closet a little.

I really love this outfit. You always have such a great knack for styling cute pieces in interesting, lovely ways. I understand how you feel about your style not completely reflecting your personality. Part of the reason I started my blog was to try and get a better feel for what I really like to wear and what represents me best. When I feel really bummed about it, I just try to put on something I really love and that makes me feel good. Hope you're feeling better soon :)

I'm so glad you aren't a blogger who has to color coordinate every thing. I love the randomness of your outfits! It makes you unique and original

I feel that, far too much. I love dresses but when I wear mine it just doesn't feel me...and I don't like jeans so much. Style evolves so much, tastes change! and it is hard because everything costs money and a change of wardrobe can't happen so fast! but I know you'll figure it out, you are a cool gal who knows how to put stuff together. You always look wonderful!

I get in this exact same funk, and you know what I think? I think it means that we fashion bloggers just get too caught up in styling and shopping sometimes, and always feeling pressured to post something fresh and eye-catching on our blogs. Sometimes I think if I weren't style-blogging, my shopaholic tendencies would be cured! But then I always had a penchant for shoe sales, so who really knows? But there's nothing wrong with trying to identify with a signature look, getting bored with it and wanting to switch it up. I look forward to seeing what you come up with next. :) But no pressure!
