The best of the rest

What with seeing everyone's outtake photos lately, I just had to post some of mine. I swear, sometimes it feels like 90% of a day's shoot are ridiculous photos like these. The things my face does on a regular basis are just terrible! Haha. Granted, sometimes I end up taking silly photos on purpose, but I think the goofiest ones are the unintentional outtakes. I went back to last summer looking through my deleted photos, so here are some of my outtakes from summer 2009...

I think the thing I like about blogs is that they aren't magazines. We don't have thousands of dollars to spend on retouching, photographers, sets, etc. We do everything ourselves (or with the help of a friend/boyfriend/husband). Another thing I love about blogs is that we represent ourselves accurately, not like magazines that manipulate people's bodies with retouching so that they aren't even anatomically correct sometimes (I can spend hours sifting through photoshop disaster sites. It's like watching a horrific car wreck, I just can't look away). I love that we are just us! And at least for me, I don't retouch anything except colors/contrast and I hope you guys know that I try to represent myself accurately here. I promise more outtake posts. Trust me, I have hundreds.

I like the realness of blogs, how different they are from magazines, & how accurately we as girls represent ourselves. I can't wait to see more outtake posts :]

This is one of the best things I like about blogs. The truthiness.

Magazines often feel so dehumanized that it's hard to be inspired by most of the content. It's so refreshing to know that, with blogs, generally what you see is what you get.

I love these! One of my favourite things about blogs is that they're more authentic then magazines. They're about real people with busy lives, who don't have endless funds and makeup artists or airbrushing. It's so much easier to relate to :)

I love your blog especially because you seem so genuine, and you don't succumb to silly trends. You're always true to yourself. I find that inspiring.

These pictures are so awesome; I love the awkward jumping ones! I have so many of these that have never seen the light of day. So cute.

Love the foot in the electrical outlet. Agreed about the realness of blogs. It is so refreshing, it is so nice to see women celebrating and sharing themselves with others instead of trying hard to look like the 17 year old girls in magazines that have all their "blemishes" removed. Yuck.

I like how blogs are so real, too. The picture where you hold your hair up is so cute! ^^

I just started reading your blog this summer so your dark hair is completely new to me - gorgeous! The red is beautiful and really fun, but you look so mysterious with dark hair. Both really suit you. And the curls! The volume! Wish I had both.

Thanks for showing some of your rejected photos. Magazines have lost my interest because of all the wonderful fashion blogs out there. Real people, being creative with whatever they have, having fun and showing their passion with photos and words. Magazines are comparatively bland and annoying (turning the page, navigating around the ads, trying to glean the truth from the edited words and the photoshopped images. Thanks for your blog. Thanks for being you and sharing that with us!

That's what I like about blogs too. And the models aren't consistently 1% of the population :)

Oh please let me know what photoshop disaster websites you look at! Hahaha. Yayy for being real.

You put this so well, it makes me proud to be a blogger. It is wonderful that all of us regular gals can still be confident enough to post pictures that aren't retouched like the ones we see in magazines. In my opinion, blog pictures are always more beautiful because of their accessibility. Thanks for being you!

It is so true. The only thing I ever edit my photos for is their colour-contrast too. I would never even retouch my face even if I have a huge blemish. Real girls have all their imperfections and they still can look beautiful, that's the reason I love blogs so much.

I so wish you could come to Canada during your road trip. Maybe someday. :)

LOve from Toronto, Canada. :)o

I agree...so much fun to see real people and everyday images that just represent...well...reality! Cute outtakes :) I love the one where you jumped out of the frame.

I know what you mean! This anonymous commenter recently left a message on a post saying 'I wish you would wear makeup so your pictures are more magazine like'.

It kind of really annoyed me because if she wanted to look at perfect girls why didn't she just pick up a magazine.Rather insulting!

I love the blogging world for showing me girls with real bodies and personalities! It's much more relatable than just a bunch of models.
