As of today I only have 14 more days until I am "unemployed." Unless you count blogging and driving around in a Winnebago as employment, which could be the greatest job ever invented. I was going to work until the 8th of Sept, which is the day before I go to New York for fashion week, but some new circumstances adjusted my schedule and I'm actually really relieved to be leaving work earlier. Initially I was all, "but I need that extra week of income!" and now I'm all, "I'm going to need that extra week to get prepared to go on the road." It will be nice to have time to move in and get situated.

This dress is the same brand as of one of my absolute favorite dresses. Both of them are just so comfortable. I love a sweet dress that is substantial and comfortable. Sometimes they look cute on the rack but then you put it on and it's see through, or ill fitting. I hate that! So disappointing.
I watched The September Issue again last night. Tavi was tweeting and tumbling about watching it and since it's on Netflix Instant Play I thought I'd watch it again. You know, get in the NYFW mood. Anna Wintour walked right by me in the tents last fashion week and I totally froze. Crazy! As interesting as the huge fashion industry is, I just can't bring myself to "like" it. I love the art of fashion, but not the industry. If you've been following my blog for a bit you know I was a grad student in a fashion journalism program, but I realized that I couldn't bring myself to devote my career to writing about trends and designers. I mean, I guess someone has to do it, but not me.

I got the quote back on how much it'll be to print my Winnebago totes, and initially I was going to make 36 of them, but now I'm going to do just 24. Making 36 was just outrageously expensive. So I suppose it will be a "limited edition" of sorts. Should I sign and number them? Haha, just kidding. I wish I could print them myself, but alas. I'll figure out a price pretty soon. They'll be done in the next couple weeks, so I think they'll be ready to buy in early September!

wow 14 days! Amazing!!! Best of luck on the trip. I think the totes are a great idea. Numbering them sounds kinda nice. Lets you know its one of a kind ;)
When I watched The September Issue, all I could think was that Anna Wintour seems like a very lonely woman.
Are you driving the Brave to NYFW or are you flying out there? I guess flying would be easier considering how hard it would be to find parking!
I'm really interested to follow the moving in process. Like I said, I'm cutting down my things to fit a small space too. I've been just as obsessed with the tiny house movement.
<3 the dress, but I can never wear that shape! Lucky you!

@Double Elephant
I'm flying to New York. I'd have to haul to try and make it to NYC from Alaska in one week, which kind of defeats the purpose of the trip. And yes, driving in NYC would be terrifying in the Brave.
The close up of you is beautiful.
I'm so excited for you! i loveee your dress!

Wow, I didn't know the big Brave adventure was coming up so quickly - how awesome for you! Good luck and this will definitely be the experience of a lifetime for you.
i really adore the print on that dress. I love netflix instant play so much. do you have a wii or anything? I watch it that way. They have a wii netflix disk they sent me when it came out and it is soooo much easier. yey for netflix! I've been using it for almost 6 years!

Lovely dress, lovely photos, lovely plans for your brave trip, ah everything sounds so good. The past few months visiting your blog made me feel like I could virtually take part in an adventure that I'd love to do myself, roadtripping across the world (or the States).
Happy Thursday :)
Welcome to being Funemployed!
I agree with what you said. I love certain aspects of fashion but when I read fashion magazines I get so turned off. All the the trends and new 'laws' of fashion. It's so impersonal. I guess that's why I really enjoy personal style blogs :)

I'm not sure exactly what you are planning to put on the totes besides the Winnebago, but it seems as though you have great handwriting and you should definitely sign them "Delightfully Tacky!" Maybe there could be a different way to personalize each one other than numbering them. Either way, I think you should make each tote different slightly! :D
14 days - that's so exciting and so scary as well!
the dress is very pretty. Ilove the cute print and the colours and the little belt it has. :)
I absolutely love your outfit, hair, pictures, you! everything is beautiful!
I'm so excited for your adventure to begin.
I read your blog daily and I just thought I would actually comment, finally. Hello :)
Ooh, that dress looks so good on you! I've been lusting over it on modcloth, but it's hard to tell whether the fit will translate well onto a squishy human body, especially a hippy one like mine. If I had the opportunity I would get it! I would also buy one of your bags. Ahh, have fun at fashion week and on the road!
Check out ma blog peeps, Manic Pixie Fashion (it's a total newb site, but I'm trying)

I definately know what you mean about the ill-fitting business, such a let-down, makes you almost leap for joy when you find a dress that fits well!
As if Anna Wintour walked right by you :s
Lovely pictures/halo outlines :)
The dress has a pretty pattern and I'm loving the boots, I'm a sucker for boots.

Don't think of your traveling and blogging as a job, jobs aren't fun! I am so jealos, it's going to be an amazing adventure. I love that dress so much!
The Girl in the Paper Dress
i love your pictures and that dress looks so sweet on you. i definitely want to get one of your totes!
So, I am very excited to see this journey of yours unfold. I am more giddy then one should be for reading about it online. Which made me think about myself, and I have a question... how did you decide that you where going to do this alone? I want to do a road trip, its on my list of to do soon things.. but I keep trying to figure out who I can convince to do it with me..and that made me wonder what your plan is.. I assume you have a route picked out? or at least points to make sure to hit? Maybe you already discussed all of this back at the beginning.. but just curious how you just decided to jump all in about it.
very pretty dress
I love that dress, the print is so cute! can't wait to see how the big adventure turns out :) I hope you have loads of fun :D

14 days is going to fly by so quick! I'm excited for you, haha! Your dress is amazing! I don't know what kind of August heat you have up in Alaska, but it would be perfect for tackling the heat here in Michigan!
Love the dress, and I think these are some of my favorite pictures of yours! Just lovely :)
i absolutely love that dress!!
Yay for ending work early! >__< It's always nice to extra time to organize I feel.
I think your dress is super gorgeous ~ love the twilight setting as well.
xox,
b. of Depict This!
you look lovely in this dress :)
can't wait to hear all about your travels and adventures!
aw, i love this dress too, and the airiness of the photos. i know what you mean about loving the art of fashion but disliking the industry. disliking might be a poor choice of words, but you know what I mean. I don't know if you read my 'fashion blues' post, but it's pretty much where I stand with things right now too. i always wanted to study fashion, but when it came down to it, it seemed like such an empty career that revolved around material objects. i hated the thought of that! that's why i switched over to film. i figured that way i could at least portray an artistic vision that embodied much more than just clothes. we'll see where that takes me (gotta finish school first).
can't wait to meet you in NYC either. maybe we can create some scandalous diversion and sneak our way into the tents!
I love these pics.
Isn't that dress amazing? I got it on Modcloth and loved it so much that when I found it in blue (on ShopRuche) I just had to have it. I think I've never bought multiples of a dress, and I bet if I found it on another color I'd buy a third.
I'm really excited about your move to the Brave. I'm looking forward to living vicariously through you.
Adorable dress! I agree with you about the whole fashion industry thing. Not into it. I just like being creative with my clothes. :)
:o)Sarah
i love the September Issue and you have actually given me an idea to hire the dvd and watch it again tonight :) so jelous your off to NY fashion week.. dreaming of travelling to NY!

It seems so simple to just throw on a dress and shoes but it looks so beautiful :) lovely!
The lighting in these photos and this dress make the perfect combination! Just beautiful!
Your style truly fascinates me. I love this dress, but also a lot, or actually, all of your outfits. It's just something about the way you match different patterns/fabrics. You're a real inspiration!
Love the fullness of this dress. Yay for driving around!!
Lovely dress (L)

Wow, your dress is so gorgeous!!! I've been thinking about watching The September Issue for awhile -- maybe this lazy Sunday is a good time to do it!
I'm so excited to read your blog whilst your driving around! I'm just the teensiest bit jealous of all your adventuring :)
