The world below

This photoshoot cost one dollar. Apparently that's what it costs to spend one photoshoot's length of time in the parking garage downtown. I love the top of parking garages. Nobody ever parks up there, but you can just go up and look down on the whole city. If I had some friends in this town, I would suggest we take some beverages up to the top of a parking garage one night and hang out up there. Sounds like something kids do in high school. I wasn't hip to the whole party scene in high school, so I'm probably just making things up.

dress/tj maxx?(can't remember) :: shoes/seychelles :: shades/pacsun

I got this dress about a year ago while I was in Washington or Portland, I can't remember. I only wore it once but I've kept it because I love the embroidery. The fabric itself is pretty nasty... kind of feels like wearing a high end burlap sack, but hey, that's what you get for shopping at discount stores eh?
Speaking of discount stores, I've recently been craving a good ol' thrift day. Just a whole day of visiting thrift stores. Maybe I'll make a day of it tomorrow.

If you guys have been following the Delightful Dozen facebook or twitter, then you probably already know, but we have a new member! Krystal from This Time Tomorrow had to "resign" from the Dozen, so a new member was voted in... *drum roll please* Give a warm welcome to Jessica from Vintage Virgin! I'm so excited to have a new member. It's always sad when someone has to leave, but it's wonderful to bring in someone new with a different style and perspective. I mean, the whole idea behind the Delightful Dozen was to see how girls with different style wear the same items. It really gives me a fresh look at my own wardrobe, so I'm kind of stoked that the Dozen is evolving.

Haha, I totally I have that same dress. It looks so cute, but is very starchy. Probably why I don't wear it too much. I like how you styled it

Very cute dress, but I can see how it could feel a bit burlappy... Perhaps a slip is in order?

I love Vintage Virgin! It'll be fun to see her Delightful Dozen outfits!

I love the change of pace in scenery with the parking garage as backdrop. And those shoes! So marvelous in the side shot where you're crouched down!

I don't know that high school kids would party in a parking garage, I think there's too much a risk of being caught! Then again if no one is interrupting your photo shoot midday, there's always the chance they'd get away with it...

The dress is to die for, also love the semi lady Gaga shoes.

****I guess it wouldn't be appropriate if you went on top of the garage and drank all by yourself? j/k

You look amazing. I am envious of those shoes!

That's really funny what you said about high school kids. Because i am in high school and we have a parking garage looking over a lake half a mile from my house and my boyfriend and I go up there all the time. Except we just picnic with chinese takeout, i doubt that can be classified as partying.

I feel like this is a little bit of a change from what you normally wear, and I must say that it is a good change!

I love vintage virgin, she does the most amazing job of her everyday styling.

so pretty -- i hate when dresses arent comfy though. i have a love/hate relationship with polyester ... 70s polyester just doesnt breathe!

This is a good idea for a photo shoot location! I think I had decided Alaska was all rural but I guess it isn't!

I'm always disappointed when cute clothes are made in terrible fabric. :/ oh well.

Also, I was rummaging around the internets, and I found this lovely print that reminded me of you:

Bummer that the dress feel so bad, it looks great. Is that the Captain Cook in the background? Looks like it. Sigh. Missing Alaska more and more everytime I read a post of yours.

This is such a great shoot!

Parking garages, rooftops, etc make such great locations because of the vast amount of space you have to work with and most of your background being in the distance. I may have to take a cue from you and find a parking garage myself since my roof top shots happen only in Chicago.

RedHead said...

Yes, worth the dollar. Who takes your photos?

I love the last picture when you're leaning up against the wall where you can see the heels! its beautiful!

Sara Lynn said...

That is it! You are making me miss my aviators sooo much. They got drushed my my butt one day... and then met their ultimate death. I might have to snag a pair soon.

I used to spend a lot of time in the parking garage. Not just in high school. We used to have parking garage picknicks, lol it was great. Now that I have a giant dog, it is a little harder :P

If you hadn't said that the material of the dress wasn't the best I would have never figured that out just by looking at it! So itchy material or not, you are rocking that look girl!

RedHead said...

Thanks for your answer, I guessed it was a tripod from you saying you're alone in the house a lot! I take mine with a tripod too, sometimes just with whatever flat surface I can find :)
Glad you liked my outfit, I did think when I wore it 'ahhh, what would DT do?'

This out fit is my favorite yet. It is something you could find in my closet! I'm so happy to hear that you are having such great days lately. Aren't those the best?

i LOVE your outfit posts- you always do them in such amazing locations that I would never think of. I never have the guts to just go out in my car and take outfit photos, but you always make me want to do it!!
I'd love you to do a piece on how you decide to do your outfit posts and where you do them. And how to not get embarrassed (as I always do!!) doing outfit posts in public!!
