Home sweet home

Sorry for the sudden disappearance! I guess I didn't anticipate how much time and energy moving out would be. I am wiped out! Yesterday morning I had a doctors appointment and then I came home and spent the rest of the day clearing all my belongings out of my room and packing them into the back of my car. It's funny to see all your stuff condensed into the trunk of a vehicle. It's like, well... there it all is. I've never been a clothes horse, but holy cow. I think maybe now I am one. The only things I really own are clothes. Clothes and a winnebago. And a laptop. I can't really think of anything else I need in life! Haha. I'm really liking going back to a more simple existence. My family has always had a lot of stuff, and I remember when I went to college it was nice to purge and exist in a new, smaller space.

I think I like compartmental living. When I was younger I used to be fascinated with the Japanese lifestyle and how perfectly compartmentalized their living spaces are. I was also fascinated with motorhomes too, naturally. I would draw them and dream about going on cross country trips. I think if I ever stop moving around in my little mobile home, I'd love to live in a house like the one in the movie Totoro. It has the Japanese compartmentalized feel, but it's in the middle of nature. Perfect. But really, who wouldn't want to live in any Miyazaki film. So magical!

I got this amazing necklace from The Morose Bee, and I love it! I'm definitely a fan of unique necklaces. I think I have a penchant for hanging my favorite things from around my neck. I have a Star Trek Enterprise necklace, a polaroid camera necklace, a scrimshaw square rigger necklace, and now a bicycle necklace! It's too cute. She's got some really fun things in her shop and for the month of July she's offering free shipping!

Okay, well, It's nearly 1 pm and my family is bugging me to go to lunch so I should probably put on some clothes and look like a decent human being. I've got an update on my Blog Garage Sale coming up later today that I've been meaning to post for a couple days, so stay posted!

First comment?

I lived in japan for two months and it was a really interesting experience. Everything is so small and neat and compact.

I really like your belt. It looks like the kind of belt that goes with just about everything.
Also your hair is great.

I moved 2 times last year and it was craziness!! I must've donated about 2/3 of my life, because packing it up was just too much. We moved from a small space to a smaller space, then to a huge place! But I believe in a more minimalist existence. It frees up the mind:) The compartmental thing is such an interesting lifestyle that I wish America would embrace more. Americans just have too much stuff in general and no place to put it!

You look great Elizabeth! And what a cute necklace...now you need a Brave necklace :]

I wiiiissh all I owned were clothes and my laptop. I feel like I own too much, but I always get afraid of throwing stuff away in case I'll need it one day. Guess I'm a packrat.

Oh man, Miyazaki films are my favorite, especially my neighbor totoro! I love how Japanese homes utilize what little space they have so well. The eat, sleep, and watch tv in a single room, which somehow always remains so clean. Guess you have to be if you want a multi-functional room :)
