The past two days I have been just scrubbing it like there's no tomorrow, and contrary to what most people seem to think, I just feel totally uncomfortable in jeans and a sweatshirt. Well, sometimes I like it, but this week sitting at work in jeans has just driven me nuts! I feel like my legs are in straight jackets! I don't know what's wrong with me, I used to only wear jeans and now my legs are like trying to secede from the union of pants. It's a civil war down there, people. I still like wearing jeans but for some reason sitting at a computer for 10 hours in jeans just isn't working out. So uncomfortable.

The past couple weeks my mom has been planting flowers and making the garden pretty, and so I thought I'd go play with the flowers in my floral Betty Draper dress. Speaking of Betty Draper, if you guys are into Mad Men at all (or even just amazing period costume design), you should head over to Tom and Lorenzo's blog and check out their incredible run downs of the various characters' fashion. They're really great reads. They aren't done going through all the characters yet, but I highly suggest going back through and reading the ones they've done so far.
This outfit is pretty much the exact opposite of what I have been wearing at work this week (I need to get more sleep so I can be coherent enough to actually be able to get dressed in the morning). Sometimes I'll come home and change clothes at my lunch break so I don't have to be stuck in whatever uncomfortable ensemble I concocted at 6:30 in the morning. I can't tell you how good it felt to slough off those jeans and slip into this dress. I haven't worn it since I was in NYC at the IFB conference. It's actually a surprisingly nice dress. When I buy stuff at Forever 21 I don't have high expectations as far as quality is concerned but I really don't mind. If something starts to fall apart I'll just mend it, but this dress is really nice! I have another f21 dress I haven't worn since February and it's hanging on my wall, eagerly waiting to be worn again.

I don't know if you guys recognize the bow on my headband, but it's one of the shoulder bows from my Rodarte dress that I altered. I made this headband way back in January but I never wore it because the black bow totally disappeared into my dark hair. Now that I have red hair, you can see it! Though, the headband is a little too big on me and it wants to fall off all the time, so it's probably going to be in the virtual garage sale...

I absolutely love the color and print of your dress. Adorable!
I totally know how you feel about sitting at a computer in jeans. Super uncomfortable! But then when I wear skirts I always end up sitting with my legs crossed underneath of me - so unladylike.
I know what you mean about wearing jeans that are tight and a restricting. I don't like to wear jeans if I'm going on a road trip or if I'm going to be sitting for a long time. I would much rather wear a skirt or dress because it's a whole lot more comfortable and easy to move around it! Plus I like to fold my legs and crisscross them a lot and that's hard to do in jeans. But I still wear them pretty consistently and haven't been able to let go just yet : )
What a beautiful floral summer dress! I have been looking for one like this and have had no luck! A garden is such a perfect background for your outfit!
I like wearing jeans, but I agree that there are moments when they are uncomfortable to wear.
I love the dress. I'm not usualy a fan of floral prints, but this one is quite nice. I also love the bow you made. It's gorgeous.
I really love the bow as a headband. And the florals in this dress are so bright and bold! I really like this.
oh my word, i love your dress so much!
That is a fabulous dress! I would have never guessed it was from F21, they do have some pleasant surprises sometimes. :)
Also - my mom was a HUGE Neil Diamond fan, so now thanks to your post title I have that song stuck in my head. lol.

I want that headband! So cute
I love that dress, it's simply gorgeous.

Totally loving this outfit!! that dress is so gorgeous! I'm totally the same about jeans... i hate them... i don't know why people think pants are so comfy. give me a dress any day
I always prefer dresses to jeans now, everyone thinks of dresses as more formal, but they're so much more comfortable. I love the bright, colourful print of your dress, and that bow is beautiful!!

Ooh, what a perfect spring/summer dress! I love it with those red shoes; so sassy.
Your description of wearing jeans made me laugh so hard, because I know exactly what you mean! It was just about a year ago that I started wearing skirts and dresses and now I feel the same way you do. Pants just feel wrong. In fact, when I wear pants now, my friends give me weird looks and ask what's wrong! Haha!
I love TLo's Mad Men costume posts. I don't watch that show, but maybe I should start.
what a pretty dress you have on. =)
How pretty!!!!! this is soo perfect! and oooh the bow!!
This is such a beautiful dress! Sometimes Forever 21 surprises me as well. I bought a strapless 1930's-ish dress about 4 years ago, and not only have a worn it to school and on dinner dates, I wore it to my senior year formal, and it still looks amazing!
First, I really love you with red hair! Second, I also hate wearing jeans, unless it's just for a couple of hours. I used to live in them, too, but now I'd much rather be wearing a dress or skirt or super-soft chinos. Skinny jeans are the most uncomfortable piece of clothing every created, cute as they may be.
This dress is a wonder!
wearing jeans and sitting at the computer definitely isn't comfortable at all! you look so lovely in these pictures and i love that you took the rodarte bow and used it as a headband! i wasn't a fan of them on the dress either. :)
I feel the same way about jeans- they used to be my favourite things, and now I feel so restricted and uncomfortable in them. I'm always pulling and adjusting! dresses are so easy.
that dress is so pretty!
your outfits are really nice and i just adore your red heels!
The colours of your photos are also very beautiful (:

you look so lovely, the dress fits perfectly and the headband is super cute yet stylish.
this is so lovely.. the dress is so vintage-looking, its beautiful. i adore the headband and the bow is just perfect. great idea to take it off the dress and recreate it!!
that dress suits you so much! and i love all the colours here.

That dress is so pretty!

That floral print is so unusual, and I love it. It's got actual flowers on it!
And it looks unbearably cute with the big bow in your hair. Oh bows, you can never have too many of them.
That dress is totally Betty Draper. I'm actually surprised it's from Forever21. I see it blending in beautifully with a backyard bbq or something.
A girl after my own heart! I have a F 21 skirt that I bought two years ago that's floral print and makes me feel very Betty Draper when I wear it.
i wish i had as much luck as you do with forever 21! i only have one dress of theirs!
I love the dress! It's so cheerful! I definitely agree that jeans aren't the most comfortable things ever. They're easy to throw on when it's not warm enough for bare legs, though. You don't have to wrestle with them like tights. I'm glad it's warming up and dresses with bare legs become the most convenient.
The headband is genius! And I love your dress, I couldn't believe it was from F21.
I agree -- I feel more comfortable in a skirt than pants any day of the week.
I cannot believe that you found a dress with such a long hemline from f21! So, pretty!
What a gorgeous dress!
you look amazing!

this dress is totally amazing! It looks great on you, especially with the red hair now! And I am convinced that denim is the most uncomfortable fabric of all time.. why in the world is it so popular to begin with? I will never understand. lol
love.
Love love love this dress!! its gorgeous and super summery. Oh! makes me wish we were heading into summer not winter :(
Love the dress. I've gone off jeans as well, no matter how generously cut they always give me pins & needles.
Thanks for the Mad Men link.. can't wait for the new series :-) and just had a Betty Draperish dress arive in the mail yesterday. Yay!
Gorgeous photos! I love this dress.
this is one of my favourites of you. I love the dress and the bow really adds a lot of life to it too!
P.S. I'm a baggy pants girl. always been so. . .I even wear ones that are 60 inchs in the legs.
This is such a pretty dress! It looks wonderful on you! Also, I just spent about an hour looking at those Mad Men posts! Thanks!
amazing! so pretty! i love your shoes too :)
i rarely wear pants in general, i find them so uncomfortable! i feel a lot much better in dresses and skirts. your dress is GORGEOUS, i loved how it totally goes with the pretty yellow flowers. :) so pretty!
I've never understood why some people are so much more comfortable in jeans than dresses. I rarely ever wear pants for the aforementioned reasons. Plus, dresses are easier - it's one piece and requires much less effort.
I really love this outfit! That floral dress is so pretty! Sometimes I am rather bummed out that we don't have F21 over here in Europe.
I have only one pair of jeans that I am actually comfortable in - a light blue pair of thrifted Levi's that I altered into Skinny Jeans. But I feel like the jeans that you buy new at stores get more and more uncomfortable every day.
Okay, this dress is just gorgeous. I love it!
You are absolutely right. This dress is gorgeous. It's like an explosion of Summer. :)
I really really love your dress! :)
I am in love with this outfit! And the adorable bow as well!
