Hey guys! Exciting news! I'm ModCloth's new blogger of the moment! I was so thrilled when they contacted me, because I definitely spend more time than is healthy browsing the pages and pages of lovely items over there. And now they have my very own Delightfully Tacky Dress! I have a little interview over at the ModLife blog, so head on over and read it, if you fancy! Plus, you can shop all of my favorite picks from ModCloth (I know, right, who needs more of an excuse to spend money, haha!).
Wow! I never would've thought that when I started this little 'ol blog in 2008 that someday I would have a dress named after me! Well, there are a lot of things I never would've thought that have happened since I started blogging, and they are all so wonderful. Mostly: all of you incredible people that read my blog and "hang out" with me (in the most digital of senses, I suppose).

I have to say, reading how excited you guys are about my Brave and the whole trip has just been so encouraging. It's fun when other people are excited about something you are doing, it really makes it that much more fun to embark on the journey. So many of you have asked me to let you know when I'll be in your area, and I totally will! Since I'll be chronicling my journeys on here, you'll all know where I am and I totally expect you to let me know when I'm rolling into your neck of the woods. I sense some blogger meet-ups!

Learning about fashion, style, and blogging has been such a eye opening experience. I just read the article on The Uniform Project over at CNN.com and I thought one of the most interesting things were the comments. 95% of them are just rude and mean spirited, which surprised me, because I thought the project was a really fun idea and supported a wonderful cause. The comments that she has no sense of style or that she's not worthy of a CNN interview because "accessorizing is not groundbreaking fashion" are just a bummer to read. I think people misunderstand a lot of what we as fashion bloggers (for the most part) are about. We're not about being the next Anna Wintour, or the next Coco Chanel, we don't claim to be fashion geniuses (whatever that is supposed to mean), but that's not the point- and fashion is so much more than the limited box that so many people seem to want to put it in. Fashion is everyday. Fashion is happening on every street corner. Fashion isn't about "being in" anymore. I think bloggers have really become the vanguards of this new mindset– fashion is about the individual. So what if I'm wearing a dress from 1977, I'm expressing who I am through the medium of fashion. It's liberating! It just is such a waste of time to criticize bloggers "sense of style" because we're all so different and we're just going to keep on keeping on, regardless of what the mainstream says!

Do you guys see the little green buds on the trees? Spring is finally in full swing and the trees are getting their tiny little leaves! I knew if I wore enough floral dresses nature would catch on. Now I'm going to have to figure out how to dress for green backgrounds! I suspect more color is in order.

congratulations lady! I'm so excited for you! and your namesake dress is so perfect for you too!
Yay, that's so rad! And damn girl, this outfit is seriously killer. Each aspect of it is amazing in and of itself, but altogether it is true fashion transcendence. Way to rock it lady.
Eeeeee, congratulations! It's about high time; you really deserve this. & I'm utterly in love with your dress.
Congrats! Well deserved! I love the 'delightfully tacky' dress! So pretty.
I think its the coolest thing ever when fashion bloggers get dresses named after them on ModCloth. I LOVE YOURS. I srsly think I may buy it. Love. Congrats!!
Wizard win! Fabulous dress? Check. Inspiring Post? Double check. You are so amazing and I absolutely love reading/seeing what you blog about.
congrats, great interview! and you're right that camera bag is cool. btw, love the dress, it is so you! Modcloth did a great job :)
I find that a lot of other non-fashion blogs don't comprehend what we're about and therefore just write nasty articles or even if the article is in favor of the fashion blogosphere, the nasty (and I assume jealous) commenters insult everyone because it is easier to make snide comments then to try and understand. clearly the negative vibes aren't what fashion blogging is all about, so its sad that so many people outside of it miss the point and fail to see that we're a very inspiring, creative, and kind community
congrats lady! that dress is so cute. I heard The Who's "going mobile" on the radio this morning and totally thought of you. :D
love the way you look!
How very very exciting and fun!!
these pictures are so pretty! I love the lace tights ;)
First of all: Congrats on the dress! It's super cute, you look great in it, and I love the description of it on Modcloth! :D
Secondly: Man, I haven't checked the Uniform Project in a while... Such a great cause! Sadly I'm not surprised by the comments on that interview. Most people don't think of fashion in the same way as fashion bloggers--for most people, fashion is a means for conforming, not self-expression. Seeing people using it in unconventional ways is threatening for those people, so they dismiss it as a waste of time or ridiculous, completely missing the point.
I was wondering when Modcloth would come out with your namesake dress. I think I even searched for it before. It's really cute and great timing with the Spring weather coming in.
I have never heard of the U.P. before this, but it seems like a genius idea, thank you for sharing the video! I will definitely look more into it.
First of all you look GORGEOUS! The outfit is to die for!
Second, if you are ever in Seattle Washington let me know! I would LOVE to meet my favorite fashion blogger!

Oh wow, congrats on your "own" dress! :) After your Delightful Dozen Project and after Tieka got her own dress, I was sure you'd get your own modcloth piece, too!
And you styled it amazingly! I'm in love with your tights since I saw them on you the first time and I've been looking for some like these since then, just haven't found em, but anyway...
I totally agree about your statement on fashion blogging. That's what I love about it, I am individual and all the other girls and their blogs are unique, too, and that's what makes the inspiration about it.

And I love the Uniform Project! I think it's such a genius idea, and for such a great cause. It's sad that people are bashing her, but there are a lot of sad and mean people out there.

oh CONGRATS on ModCloth's BOTM!!!!! dress is so fitting!!! yay!!!
congratulations on being blogger of the month!
I agree with your stance on fashion and blogging. In my opinion its a wonderful opportunity to see the individualism of a person and how they can express themselves. The disdain some people express is not deserved.
thanks for this. just what i needed to read today.
and that's so cool you're blogger of the moment, well deserved :)
Congratulations! You totally deserve it!
Oh my gosh, LOVE the dress so so much! And their little description of you couldn't be more perfect! Their writers nail the nail right on the head, don't they?!! AH! Love it. And.. you look amazing in it... and... I totally agree with your entire paragraph on fashion and what it's supposed to be... and.. I think that's it. I sent out a package today to you! <3

Can't believe The Uniform Project got bad comments, idiots! I found the whole thing really inspiring.
I agree with Tess's comment way up there. Also, congrats! You look awesome, and I am sure someone told you by now but your on the front page of chictopia :)
congrats on being blogger of the month!

NORA
Hooray! Congrats :D
congrats to the max! i love this dress on you!
Congratulations on being Blogger of the Month!! It's so well deserved! I've loved your blog since I first stumbled upon it and I'm so excited for all the amazing opportunities your coming into. Love the dress, love the Winnie, love you.
I read about the Uniform Project a while ago and was really impressed with it. It's upsetting to me that people would demean what she's done merely because it involves fashion. She's raised so much money and done so much good in the world simply by taking something she loved to do (getting dressed every day) and turning it into something that could impact the world for the better. I'm sure that's more than most of those negative nay-sayers have done. Keep on keepin' on, I say.
I'm SO glad you're blogger of the month! Although I don't comment here often, your blog has been my favorite to read for a long time. I feel like we're a lot alike, especially after reading your modcloth interview. (Radiohead's my definite favorite too!) I'm also extremely jealous of your Winnebago trip and I'm dying to do something like that. :) Anyways, I just wanted to say congrats, and thanks for being a great fashion inspiration! HUGS!
lol these tights seem to be lasting a lifetime! do you have a special technique for putting them on or something?!xx
How exciting! And your dress is beautiful.
It is astounding to see people's reaction to the uniform project. The one person he says its not groundbreaking or newsworthy and that there is no sense of challange to the project really got me. I wanted to be like you try wearing the same dress for a year straight... and coming up with ways to make it different and intersting. I coudn't do what she did for a month... I'd be dying to wear my other clothes.
A lot of the people who commented on that article are obviously not fashion bloggers, haha, because i think you don't think about clothes the way we do and about how challanging it can be to do something that what she did until you make it a priority is some sense in your life.
I am personally completely in awe of what she did with project and that dress.
Congratulations! I like your dress.
