true love waits in haunted attics

Work felt soooo loooonnngg yesterday. My supervisor left at like 9 am and my coworker left at noon, so the last half of the day I was all alone and aching for the weekend. To top it off, I was the only one not informed that we were leaving at 5 instead of 6. Thankfully the guy locking up let me know and I was really excited because the camera shop called and told me my lens was fixed and I wouldn't have been able to pick it up if I worked till 6. Everything worked out perfectly and I got to get out of work early and get my lens!

When I received this dress from Megan Nielsen, I was so excited to wear it, but terrified to actually take it out into the decidedly dirty world which is break-up. Pretty much everything is coated in a thin layer of dirt. But, Lo! Though I walk through the valley of dirty snow, I will fear no mud. This dress is actually a swing mini dress, but I decided to belt it. I love it both ways, but I loved the belt and boots together. Speaking of the boots...! I got a wonderful package in the mail from KensieGirl with these darling booties. They are almost exactly like my Target boots, but a cuter, slightly sexier version! Perfection. A huge thanks to Mel for thinking of my tiny feet and sending them to me! Heels especially are hard to find when you have miniscule feet.

I kept seeing lovely ladies wearing boater hats and I love me a cute hat so when I saw this one at Claire's during my last jaunt through the mall, I knew I had to give it a try. I feel like I'm a character in a book when I wear it. I'm not sure what book, but a book character nonetheless. Anne of Green Gables, maybe? Haha! Don't forget to keep up with the Delightful Dozen, I'll be passing this dress on to some of them and I for one can't wait to see how they style it!

That dress is gorgeous. Spring has got me wanting tons of white dresses so I could just wear one everyday.
And I don't know how you do it, but somehow big old trucks look really glamorous in all your outfit posts. I don't think I'd have ever paired a truck with a boater hat in my mind, but it really works. It's like a fairy tale character grew up and got their first car.

i think there are two kinds of daily style blogs ... the ones who just document outfits and the ones who really put thought into setting/picture quality/etc ... yours falls into the latter and i am consistently amazed at the editorial quality of your posts! :D keep up the good work!

Oh your outfit is the prettiest outfit! I get so scared to wear white during the Spring that ever since I wore this all white flutter dress and got splashed with filth water from a car a few years ago! The white looks so beautiful with your hair and those sassy booties.

So pretty! I love the hat. I've seen a lot of girls wearing them and found myself wanting one too! I'm hoping I can find one at a thrift store.

So you made the necklace? So cool! Jewelry-making is next on my "things I want to learn" list.

This is all so perfect. The little white dress with a light brown booties, and to top it off a boater hat. This outfit is so simple, yet so amazing at the same time. It just fits so well together and now I am feeling a major case of style envy coming on!

I found this page by the radiohead quote that I randomly googled as I was listening to true love waits.

Didn't have anything to do with your post but I just wanted to say I love your hair, its very nostalgic of my childhood for some reason except you probably have way better hair than anyone did in the 80s

I have spent the last few days reading the archives of your blog nearly every time I have "free" time (don't think me a stalker! I'm just getting a kick out of feeling inspired by your fashion sense - and the fact that you are from Anchorage and I am living in Wasilla). So a few things:

1. I have thought of Anne of Green Gables the entire time I have been looking at your photos, and this blog entry was the first time I noticed you mention her :) I am glad you know who she is!

2. The other day I took a risk in outfit-building and my husband looked at me like, 'Oh god please don't wear that out of the house.' Much as I love him, it annoyed me to realize that I have forever been working to please men (cutting red, my signature color, out of my wardrobe entirely because someone else didn't like it, not wearing heels even though they're my favorite because they made someone else uncomfortable...). It all just makes me want to barf. So I took a risk yesterday in the outfit I put together (I am 26 and most people guess I am 30 with children, based on the way I dress and the fact I drive a minivan). Anyway, I took a risk and I felt so pretty all day! I wanted to take a picture of myself in it but the house was a mess :( Excuses, excuses.

3. Last night when I started (again) reading your blog, you were in TN and by the time I went to bed your little marker was in Georgia! It was exciting to me, like, "Look at her go!" I hope you're having safe travels!

4. Don't stop blogging, and don't let the whiners and anonymous commenters get you down. They are jealous. And you KNOW by now that's not just something your mom told you to make you feel better.
