still waters run deep

i am so glad and very
merely my fourth will cure
the laziest self of weary
the hugest sea of shore

so far your nearness reaches
a lucky fifth of you
turns people into eachs
and cowards into grow

our can'ts were born to happen
our mosts have died in more
our twentieth will open
wide a wide open door

we are so both and oneful
night cannot be so sky
sky cannot be so sunful
i am through you so i

dress/via Tiger Cult Vintage :: belt/forever 21 :: shoes/keds :: hat/claire's

I was so excited when this dress came in the mail from Tiger Cult Vintage because the second I laid eyes on it, I knew it would go with my brand new boater hat and my trusty Keds. When I wear this hat I feel like a character in a book. Perhaps my outfits are sometimes my way of escaping reality and detaching myself from my world and placing myself in a different, more whimsical reality. I will readily admit to living vicariously through fictional characters, especially lately. Sometimes there's not much in the world better than submerging oneself in the lives of fictional characters.

wow that last paragraph of this post was genius, escapism is one of my favorite parts of art, and escapism through clothes is one of the best types of escapism

Your outfit reminds me of Jane March's character in L'amant:

Great dress! I tried finding that boater hat yesterday at Claires and that one wasn't there, but they did have one that resembled a birthday hat. By birthday hat, I mean it had the elastic strap attached to it. No thanks. Will be checking out some hat stores today. I hope I'm lucky! Happy Sunday Elizabeth.

xx Love & Aloha

Living through characters is the best. I think that's one reason why I chose to be a creative writing major, and why I love vintage so much.

Esacapism.....isn't it something we all wish for every now and then?? However you do look like a character out of a novel most of the time, somehow your outfits manage to evoke that kind of emotion out of people.
