Black-eyed angels swam with me

I'm trying to tap into florals up here to give a hint to the climate that I would like to see florals in real life. I've never really been a florals person before, but I've recently discovered that I'm becoming more open to different things. I'm very much a creature of habit. When I was a little kid all I would wear were dresses and leggings, then as an older kid I would only wear big t-shirts and sweatpants, then as a teenager I would only wear jeans and t-shirts. Now I'm in this place where I've become free to wear whatever I want and I don't really care. It's actually quite liberating. I feel much more creative in what I wear because I'm not habitually bound to wearing a certain type of thing. I used to hate florals and polka dots and stripes and now I would love to wear all of those... maybe even at the same time!

When I saw the floral dress Tieka wore a couple weeks ago I fell in love with the gorgeous print. This dress is the same print, but paired with a beautiful ivory lace accent. I instantly fell in love the moment I took it out of the packaging. I predict I will be wearing it multiple times this spring and summer. I thought it was fun paring the floral dress with the graphic tights. Kind of opposite of my usual. I normal wear floral tights with more graphic tops.

I watched An Education last night. The fashion was really lovely. I would love to wear any of the outfits that Jenny wore in the film. Carey Mulligan was such a doll. The plot wasn't earth shattering. It was a good story. Not stupid, but not life changing. I have to say, though, every time I see a film like that it makes me want to take up smoking, haha!
I had to rent something though. I'm housesitting this weekend and so I'm kind of enjoying the "retreat". Yes, there are strawberries and Nutella involved. The tiny fuzzy dog I'm watching at this house was totally freaked out when I first showed up. All it would do is growl at me and sulk in the corner, but now it's chilling out next to me. Thank goodness!

you're right about an education, beautiful film, carey is great in it, but kind of a forgettable plot

I really love that last picture, however the ground looks really wet!

I hope there was something underneath you, protecting that lovely floral dress!

I totally get what you're saying. When I was younger my mom would always dress me with florals and polka dots and I would get irritated because I don't want to look too girlie, but now I adore patterns on clothes, I think they really makes the dress look pretty. :-)

That dress is stunning! And yumm, Nutella! I think my last meal ever would have to be Belgian waffles topped with Nutella and strawberries. Ohhh man.

Ahh, I fell in love with that dress at first sight when I saw it at Modcloth! If I had some extra cash laying around, it would definitely be in my closet right now...

I went through a similar fashion evolution. When I was little, I was a girly girl. Middle school was jeans and baggy t-shirts, and high school much the same...now, my friends freak out if they see me in pants! Haha. I just wear whatever I feel like now.

I can't wait to see An Education, so-so plot aside :)

I've been admiring this dress on Modcloth for a while and it looks so lovely on you! I love how the sun is shining through your pretty red locks in that first photo.

I saw An Education in theatres and loved it. I'm kind of obsessed with Carey Mulligan now. I agree with you about the plot though. It kind of contradicted itself - the whole movie was convincing you that eduction isn't what's most important...and then they just did a 360 in the last 20 minutes. Meh.

I'm not really a fan of smoking in real life-- but 60s-style films make me want to go buy some unfiltered cigarettes and pretend to be Audrey Hepburn or Carey Mulligan. Only I'll probably end up coughing and hacking and not looking quite as glamorous.

I love the last photo, the contrast of the dress and tights show up really well! But isn't it cold to be lying down there? Call me a nitpicker, but I'd be worried about the dress!

I know what you mean about being habitually bound to a type of clothing. I too used to hate florals. I think at this point I'm trying to just diversify my wardrobe and wear things that I wouldn't have even considered in the past. We'll see how it goes =)

Love the dress by the way!

what a great dress. I used to be completely against florals too, but I've found myself liking them more and more over the last few years.

Lovely photos (I didn't expect something different)! Before reading the text I thought that you seem to dress much in powder/nude colours and with more florals than before and then I red almost exactly the same from you :)

Sara and I watched the movie and felt the same way. We were like, "we know smoking is so bad, but they make it look so chic!" same thing happened with the movie inglourious basterds. Also I hate when Peter Sarsgaard plays a bad guy because he is so adorable!

Anyways, super cute outfit I like how you styled this dress!

I love all of your radiohead references lately! Especially the reference to True Love Waits! Even if the story that inspired it is so sad and creepy. I think this dress is so pretty and sweet, but really anything you wear looks so pretty and sweet with your hair!

And agreed on An Education, the outfits were nice, but the plot was such a contrivance and riddled with expected tropes, but I guess all is overlooked when there are pretty dresses and hairstyles! It was just sort of sad at the end when it seemed like the movie was saying no girl could be both stylish and pretty and also kick ass intelligent! Which seems like such a fallacy! Oh well.

I feel the same way about florals--and smoking, for that matter! I don't care what the DARE officers say, it's terrible in a lot of ways, but it still looks cool. :D

I'm going to go ahead and give this outfit a high five... florals, lace, patterned tights? A difficult union but excellently executed.

Florals are actually something I've recently (within the past 2 years) really started to be attracted to myself. Polka dots and I, on the other hand, have been friends for a long time.

oh wow, i love this look so much. florals look really beautiful on you, but i know what you mean i have a hard time committing to the "prettiness" of them. but i love how you paired the black tights and boots! i love the woods photos too. you're an elf, i say! a wood elf!
