I cannot believe that yesterday it was below freezing here in Alaska, and in NYC it was 90 degrees!! I realize that it's Alaska and all, but this is just plain depressing. Go away, snow! I woke up yesterday and my car was covered in snow. I had to scrape the ice off of it. And then I saw at least 10 ditch-diver tire tracks into the median on my way to work. And then! We had an earthquake! Haha. Oh, Alaska. "Big. Wild. Life." is Anchorage's motto, which I think is contrived and stupid (why do cities need catchphrases??), but I guess at times the motto rings true!
If any of you are thinking of vacationing in the Last Frontier, please consider it! Come visit me and I'll take you around! A bunch of my friends from college came up and spent the summers here the past two summers and one of my best friends is coming up again this summer, I can't wait! One of my friends was brave enough to stay the entire winter in Anchorage and another one of my friends is probably more Alaskan than I for spending an entire winter in Fairbanks, where temperatures like to hang out around -40 degrees F.
Anyway, if anyone is coming up to this gorgeous state this summer, give me a shout!

oh wow, I'm pretty impressed! It seems like you gotta be tough as nails to like in alaska ;]
Thats so cool! x
Rock on girl! I'm surprised you played hockey. Sure as hell wish we'd have it here in Cali, but alas not quite the favored sport here. I've randomly wanted to visit Alaska, but don't have any connections there hahaha.
Its very cool to have a list of things to do and accomplish it. You're one stylin' hockey girl :)
i always hate washington because of the cold here and the rain is unbelievable but i know i truly love it deep deep down. but i mist say alaska is a whole nother thing. i realize i shouldnt complain.

I love this! I haven't played hockey in about 4 years and I miss it so much. Good on you for picking it up again! Maybe next year I will follow suit.

I think it's great that you've got such versatile interests. Fashion and hockey both work for you so well. :)
A fashionista who plays hockey? Kick. Ass. Combo. :D
Haha, it's a bit funny that right after you were complaining about the cold weather and earthquakes, you entreat us to come to Alaska. Still, I'm sure it's a lovely state-- my cousin went there for a friend's honeymoon. She got amazing pictures!

I love that you play hockey! I wish I did, my Dad is from Canada and my brother has been playing since he was 4 so I practically grew up in ice rinks.
Ok, you get mad cool points for playing hockey. It is also on my list.
So fun! Glad you went through with it and played. No regrets. I would loveeee to go to Alaska. It's on my list. I think it's a little pricey for now, but you never know!!

ahh! the snow came to calgary today! so brutal.
also - best "city catchphrase" i ever saw - at Swift Current a random town in Saskatchewan of about 15000 people. Their welcome sign says
"where life makes sense"
???
Haha. That is great! We may be much farther south by this is Blackhawk country. My husband played hockey when he was younger and is a huge Hawks fan of course. Oddly, I dont think there is a single womens team in the area...
we got that 90F weather... suddenly hot and trees and flowers blooming like CRAZY...but on Saturday, it is supposed to go into the low 30s over night. Hope the flowers do not die. Ridiculous weather... Alaska is a little scary. Maybe you can fashion up those hockey uniforms...they look a little too predictable.
Oh, I would just LOVE to come visit you. I will honestly save up for a trip! It'd be so amazing to see you again! And I love these pictures - what a fun experience!
I'd love to come to Alaska -- is it like Hawaii in that it doesn't really feel at all like the US? And I realize how aweful that sounds, but you know what I mean! I spent some time in Hawaii and was absolutely smitten with the culture and how different it felt...I have a feeling I'd love Alaska, too.
xx
Hey, I live in North Pole/FBX! :) It did snow hard today but melted fairly fast which surprised me!
I'm not sure I could stay here the rest of my life (we leave in 2013) because I really love to travel and I don't like paying a grand to just get out of the state, but I must say this has been a wonderful experience so far. I truly enjoy it :)
I'm not surprised that you play hockey however since it seems to be the number one sport up here! How can it not be?!
I can totally sympathize with the unseasonal weather. I live in Edmonton, Alberta and it is blizzarding as I write this (by which I mean there is snow and incredible winds...I'm not sure if it actually qualifies as a blizzard).
I think it is totally awesome that you play hockey!

Oh my goodness you are so cute and awesome! I love that you wear the cutest and girliest tights/skirts but wear all that gear and play hockey! I love girls that can be in the best of "both world" - girly and tomboyish. I'm the same way! I used to play soccer and was also a ballerina at the same time... weird!
Ok, awesome post. =)
How cool is it that you play hockey!! I'm a sports fiend too.. and I love when super fashionable bloggers like you show that they love sports too!! :)
Augh god, I'd love to holiday in Alaska one day. I always longingly look at the long Trek America tour that takes in a lot of Alaska plus some of the Yukon Territory, but it's like £2,000... if only I was good at saving!
i envy you and your hockey playing skills. My friends always play hockey and it makes me wish i was better at skating
