I think I'm feeding off the colorlessness of the natural world. Well, not entirely true. Today I wore an all green outfit. These photos are from yesterday. I didn't get a photo of my outfit today, but it was kind of like this. I must say, I'm kind of getting bored of the red garage door background, but it's very quick to do my photos there, especially since tromping through the snow and spending more than three minutes doing my photos isn't really my cup of tea. Not in December.
Well, a new background is likely in the future. Especially if I move to San Fran for school.
P.S. still stoked about not having my hair attack my eyeballs.
P.P.S can you tell these are my new favorite boots? Okay, well, co-favorite with my cowboy boots. I wore those today.

Right now my little doggy is snuggled up next to me in bed and I looked at her all curled up in her fuzzy cuteness and imagined what it must be like to have one's own child curled up like that. My grandma and grampa are both over 88 and since I'm nowhere near married (and thus, nowhere near birthing a child), I decided to ask them to make me things for my future child and have this Christmas be a preemptive baby shower. By the time someone decides they love me enough to have a child with me, I am certain my wonderful grandparents will be gone and I want my child(ren) to have something from them.
My grandma made me a blanket when I was a kid and I still use it to this day, even though it's tattered and patched. And my grampa always made me toys from his carpentry shop. It seems like people don't have skills like that these days. I know my mom and dad will make great things for my kids though. I can picture my dad spending hours in his shop making all sorts of toys for my kids, and my mom making me a baby bag, baby blanket, etc, etc.
Someday.

That's such a wonderful idea! I'm sure your future kids will be very happy with the gifts your grandparents made.
You look lovely.
what a sweet and thoughtful idea.. i'm so tired of just getting stuff for xmas, its a great idea to ask for something that will really be special to you (and the future kiddos)
What a sweet thoughtful thing to do, both for your future children and your grandparents! I am sure it means as much or more to your grandparents as it will to you. I am still meaning to come check out the goodies in your store...I just don't make it to A-town that often. Maybe this week....
what a great idea to have your grandparents make something for your future babies to remember them by. you have a genuine heart so don't settle for anyone! i tell you it's worth waiting!
What a great idea! I only have one grandparent left and she likes cocktails more than quilting (which is fine). The goal is to find a man who is awesome enough to make toys in a carpentry shop for his children, even though that sort of creativity seems to have gone out of vogue. My boyfriend is old-fashioned (or old-mannish) like that, so here's hoping!
ps I love your blog!

I have lost everything I owned and grew up with, childhood photos and love letters from my Dad to his childhood sweetheart bride while he was in the Marines. Out of all those losses...what pains the most is that I no longer have the photos or the things that were my grandmothers. :-( So I can no longer pass these things down.
I think it's a wonderful idea to ask your Grandparents for these things.
I love what your wearing...love the boots too!
Did you trim your bangs? mine are attacking my eyes as I write this in dire need of a trim!
Love & Light,

I love this outfit! Especially your skirt! Oh la la! I want one ;)
Ahhh... such a sweet idea to have your grandparents preparing some treasures for a future baby! Those items will have one of the most beautiful meaning when you will be ready to use them!

You're the second blog I follow to shun color today. But I totally agree and I love it. The skirt is my favorite.
you look great dear
awww... preemptive baby shower xmas. I made my sister a blanket years ago for the same reason. I knew she would have a little one. perhaps I might...
Ugh you're fabulous. It kills me.
Great Blog! and Great Style! I enjoy it. Keep it up!
I absolutely love that idea. We have a great grandma who is turning 94 this upcoming January and I so want to do the same thing and tell her to make something special for our children (because we're no where close to having kids either!)
I adore everything you think up!
First, I love this skirt.
Secondly, I horded baby clothes for about 4 years. I would find them in thrift store and at Target... My now husband always thought it was crazy. I lost my grandparents sans one by the time I was your age. i really wish i would have thought of what you have. I did however do it for when I was to get married. My grandmother (who was from Paris) started to will me a lot of trinkets, housewares and various other things for when I would get married. They were put away in a hope chest, which in the olden days was used in the same way and sometimes for dowries.
Hey Tacky, I tagged you on my blog because yours is one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES and that's how I express it, like boys in the 2nd grade. I don't know how you feel about stupid little blogger games, but you're it, whether you like it or not. XO

I love your hair!
I love that skirt! Also, I really loved your WorldUgly post on Chictopia...Boston isn't quite as cold as Alaska but it gets pretty chilly here, and often I feel like the stylish people in the super - cold regions are a little underrepresented in the blogosphere. Also, I also keep my hair down ALL winter, it really does make a dramatic difference, warmth - wise.
